Diary 2018 - 2019
The Silurians had a quiet end to 2017 and into 2018. Time was spent successfully learning 19 new pieces of work for the Mass Male Choir concert at the Royal Albert Hall in May. Male choirs from Wales and England gave a rousing concert at this marvelous event under the direction of Mr Alun Humphries with excellent guest artistes.
It was a proud moment for 850 voices when Musical Directors and Accompanists were invited on stage.
This was especially relevant to the Silurians as MD Mr Ralph Williams is celebrating 50 years as conductor in 2019.

Following the visit to London in May, the choir was invited to sing at Westminster Palace by Mr Gerald Jones MP for Merthyr and Rhymney. Following the concert a tour of Westminster and both House of Commons and House of Lords took place. A marvelous day was had by  the choir and their guests from the Rhymney area. On this occasion, the Chairman and Secretary invited Mr Jones to become Honorary President which he enthusiastically accepted. This was after the sad loss of Mr Elwyn Morgan the previous President.

The choir continues to support local charities and musical events.
The Silurians remain a popular choice at weddings and recently at a service in Blaenavon were described by the groom as 'Amazing'.

We are pleased to announce that a Concert Celebrating Ralph Williams 50 years as Musical Director of Rhymney Silurian Male Choir. This will be held on Saturday 13th July  2019 at  Idris Davies School, Abertysswg . Guest artists include Ffion Edwards (soprano and Jack Bowtell (baritone).
Tickets are available at £8 from Secretary Mr Bernard Jenkins on 01495 723612 or 07836631192 or choir members.
